FOSTER THE PEOPLE in Manila CD Signing

FOSTER THE PEOPLE was in Manila for a one-night concert last Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.  The American Indie Pop band is consists of Mark Foster, Cubbie Pink, Mark Pontius, Isom Innis, and Sean Cimino with the first three as the main band members.  Their single "Pumped Up Kicks,"  is my personal favorite in their TORCHES album, but I still suggest you grab the album because it is really worth it! You'll end up playing the entire album over and over and over! I swear! 

Hours before their first concert in the Philippines, the band were scheduled for a Press Conference and Album Signing at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.   The Torches Album Signing was an exclusive event for Foster The People Filipino Fans like me, so there I went!   All of us lined up at Astrovision at Edsa Shang Mall to get our passes and CDs, then after we went at the hotel where the boys are waiting.

 After the PressCon we all lined up for the album signing.  The band and management requested that there should be no personal cameras. So S-A-D! =(

"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" Gala Night

"We accept the love we think we deserve..."

This may have been just one of the many famous lines you would remember if you have read the book, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" written by Stephen Chbosky, and was released in February 1st, 1999.  This year, the novel was made into a film and starred Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, and Logan Lerman who played the lead role of a teenage boy named Charlie.

I have been lucky to receive 10 movie tickets for its Philippine premiere courtesy of Astroplus and shared it with a few friends. (Thank you all for joining even if it's a late invitation =) Special mention to Eda, Jake & girlfriend Mae )   I haven't read the book, so I didn't really know what to expect, except that there's Emma Watson from one of my favorite fantasy films, Harry Potter and the cute guy on the poster, Ezra Miller. =)   I was later surprised to see that the author Stephen Chbosky himself, wrote the screenplay and directed the film!

 I won't discuss what exactly happened in the story for those who haven't read it, but definitely the public should watch out for Ezra Miller who played as Patrick, Sam's step-brother portrayed by Emma Watson.  He well-acted his role and thought that he may have overshadowed Logan Lerman who is on the lead because of the intensity of his part and how he portrayed it.  =)

Before the actual screening, Alcatel also gave out cellphones to those lucky audiences.  Too bad I didn't win, but perhaps next time :(

If you can, find time to catch "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" at the big screen.  As for me? I'll probably buy the book this weekend. :)

My MAROON 5: Meet and Greet

Friday, September 14th, 2012.  MAROON 5's 3rd Manila Concert is fast approaching.  I knew long before that Dayly Entertainment would sell out additional tickets to accommodate fans who wants to see the band; been checking Ticketnet too just to make sure the SRO tickets are still available when payday comes.  ^_^  Unluckily, tickets got sold out really soon again, hence no concert ticket for me. :(

Adam... Adam... Adam... who wouldn't want to see him in person when you can? I doubt if anyone would say Yes, I don't like to see him.   My crazy fangirl side is kicking in, so when I read somewhere that I'll get the chance to see him in person, I JOINED!  I think I signed up for every contest I could fine online just to grab concert tickets or possibly meet and greet passes.  I tried the one for BENCH, no luck.  I tried Dayly Entertainment, no luck.  I tried the one on MYX.PH, no luck.  Last chance was for the Scratch and Win Promo of MCA Music.  I learned that I could grab a scratch card upon purchase of Maroon 5's OVEREXPOSED album, so I went and tried 2 CDs at Astroplus, even if I already bought one months before, no luck.   Well at least I've got a poster and a folder of Maroon 5 after the scratch. ^_^    I was on the hype, I wanted to get some more cards! (talking about being addict LOL)

So, on my third day to try, a day before the concert, THERE IT WAS!  All but shiny card with what I've been praying for!  Thank you Astroplus! Thank you MCA Music!

BAMBOO: Meet and Greet / CD Sigining Event

Bamboo Mañalac is back!  

He is definitely back, this time as a solo artist with a new album, "No Water, No Moon," titled after a Japanese Koan, and is released by Poly East Records, after nine months of as we say, break-up with his former bandmates.   Whether on a band or as a solo artist, I know Bamboo is one of a kind, and is not like any other.  His musical style and lyrical intelligence is way too extraordinary, that before one could get to the core of his narratives, one must come up with their own transfigurations of the song a thousand times. That may be a trait of most songwriters, but his is just simply unique.

One best thing I love about this man, is his innovation.  He never fails to surprise us - his listeners!  He would always have a different approach to each album or to each song he does, as he tries to reinvent the music we are so used to hear.    This new album, "No Water, No Moon,"  is a mixture of everything from rock to pop to ballad, blended together with a beautiful orchestral arrangements.  I find myself listening to the entire album as soon as I got them last Sunday, over and over again.  It's more like my personal nirvana now, after "Ultraelectromagneticpop" (Eraserheads) and "Waiting For My Rocket To Come" (Jason Mraz.)   All of which are my personal choices when I need to be at peace, want to be inspired, or just want to chill out.

I was saddened by the news of Bamboo (the band) calling it quits, and much anticipated for this day to come.  So, when I learned that Bamboo is having an album signing and meet and greet session with fans (this is a rare chance, as I knew that he rarely or have not yet done any fan signing event), I never hesitated and marked the event on my calendar!

The CD Signing / Meet and Greet event happened on December 4th, 2011, at Odyssey SM Megamall (4 p.m.) and at  Astroplus SM Mall of Asia (7 p.m.).  

I arrived at the Mall of Asia around 6PM and went straight to the venue thinking that people may have already lined up.  I bought two CDs and registered at the cashier, then I waited until 7PM.   I stood near the booth/table for about 10-15minutes because I wanted to be first in line, but because no one followed my lead (too bad, yeah I know)  I moved away and chose to wait until the organizers would ask us to fall in line, which I think didn't happen. LOL...  When a young girl  stood near the table, that was my hint, I followed her, and the others lined up after me. =)

The store lit up with enthusiasm when fans started screaming as soon as "the man" came in!   I can't stop staring at him all the time, even if I've seen him perform live many times, I still can't explain the feeling that finally, I could get a chance for a photo-op with Bamboo! =)
